Story

1979 Chevrolet Corvette

The 1979 Corvette family combined two-door two-passenger fastback coupe with removable roof panels with Corvette Coupe, Corvette with L82 configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.

Engines and transmissions

L48 and L82 engines require matching induction, transmission, differential ratio, cooling, emissions equipment, suspension, dates, and records. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.

Chassis and brakes

The fastback C3 paired L48 or L82 power with independent suspension, four-wheel discs, engine-specific driveline hardware, and optional FE7 tuning. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.

Body, trim, and proof

Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
