Story

The 1971 Dodge Demon 340 is the Dodge A-body companion to the Plymouth Duster 340: a lighter, cheaper way into small-block Mopar performance with its own Dart front clip, Demon tail treatment, and unmistakable graphics. This page treats the public target as the factory 1971 Dodge Demon 340, not a base Demon, Dart Swinger, Plymouth Duster 340, 1972 Demon, 1973 Dart Sport, or modified small-block swap.

The reviewed boundary is the 1971 model year, Dodge Demon two-door coupe body, E55 340 cubic-inch four-barrel LA V8, and the Demon 340 equipment package. Reviewed references agree on the 275-gross-horsepower 340, standard floor-shifted three-speed manual, optional four-speed and TorqueFlite paths, Rallye suspension, 10-inch drum brakes, wide-tread E70-14 tire context, body-side tape stripes, and optional dual scoops, blackout hood, spoiler, buckets, console, tach, and Tuff wheel. Those appearance pieces are useful context, but they are not proof by themselves.

Production is recorded conservatively at 10,098 Demon 340 cars for 1971, with base Demon output recorded separately as model-line context. Individual-car originality still needs decoded Dodge A-body identity, E55 340 evidence, fender tag, broadcast sheet or comparable paperwork, drivetrain and axle records, and trim/paint codes that agree with the car. The gallery uses exact-year Commons Demon media where available, embeds only directly relevant Demon 340 videos, and uses source-card visuals for engine, drivetrain, chassis, literature, and authenticity details that should not be faked with unrelated component photos.
