1967 Ford Mustang GT 390

The 1967 Mustang's larger engine bay made Ford's FE-series 390 available in the Mustang for the first time. In GT form, the S-code 390 four-barrel V8 was paired with the GT Equipment Group's handling, braking, exhaust, lighting, and appearance features. Ford listed the engine at 320 gross horsepower and 427 lb-ft of torque.

The configuration could be ordered as a hardtop, fastback, or convertible. A Toploader four-speed or C6 SelectShift automatic are the documented performance transmission paths retained here; an individual car's original transmission, axle ratio, and limited-slip equipment still require its door data plate and factory records.

Published model-line totals account for 356,271 hardtops, 71,042 fastbacks, and 44,808 convertibles, or 472,121 Mustangs overall. Those figures are context for 1967 production, not GT 390 totals.
