The 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS427 is Chevrolet's full-size big-block statement car: the RPO Z24 SS427 package on the Impala Super Sport body path, centered on the L36 Turbo-Jet 427. Over-Drive's 1967 Chevrolet full-size fact sheet lists the L36 at 427 cid, 385 hp, and 460 lb-ft, and states that the SS427 package used that engine as its standard power. The same source reports 2,124 SS427 cars for 1967, while also warning that the public coupe and convertible body totals do not break out the Z24 split safely.
The enthusiast-important boundary is identity. A regular 1967 Impala SS already had black-accent trim, Super Sport interior equipment, grille and deck-lid SS badges, and either Strato-bucket seats with console or a Strato-bench substitution. The SS427 layer added the big 427 identity, the special hood and suspension context, and visible SS427 cues. That makes badges useful as visual clues, but not enough to certify a car.
