1966 Dodge Coronet 426 Hemi

The 426 Street Hemi arrived in Dodge showrooms for 1966 with a factory rating of 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft. Dodge bulletin D66-18 says the engine was available in all Coronet models, so this page covers the factory Hemi configuration across the Coronet, Coronet Deluxe, Coronet 440, and Coronet 500 lines rather than treating one body style as the only version.

The Hemi package changed more than the engine. Buyers could pair it with an A833 four-speed manual or a 727 TorqueFlite automatic. Four-speed cars received a 9.75-inch Dana 60 axle with a standard 3.54 Sure-Grip ratio; automatics used an 8.75-inch axle with a 3.23 ratio. Dodge also specified .920-inch heavy-duty front torsion bars, a link-type front sway bar, 11-inch brakes, and 7.75 x 14 Blue Streak tires.
