Why It Matters
Every 1956 Corvette used Chevrolet's 265-cubic-inch small-block V8. The standard single-four-barrel engine was rated at 210 gross horsepower, RPO 469 added twin Carter WCFB carburetors for 225 horsepower, and 111 RPO 469 cars also received the racing-purpose RPO 449 high-lift camshaft commonly reported at 240 horsepower. Engine suffix, castings, carburetors, dates, transmission, and documentation must agree for an individual-car claim.
