Story

1987 Chevrolet Corvette

The 1987 Corvette family combined two-door two-passenger hatchback coupe or convertible with coupe, convertible, Z51 coupe, Z52 coupe configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.

Engines and transmissions

Every 1987 Corvette used the L98 Tuned Port V8 with aluminum cylinder heads, while transmission, axle, body, suspension package, cooling, wheels, tires, dates, and records define the configuration. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.

Chassis and brakes

The C4 used composite transverse springs with independent suspension at both ends. Z51 and Z52 changed springs, bars, steering, cooling, wheels, and tires. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.

Body, trim, and proof

Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
