Story

1966 Plymouth Barracuda

The 1966 Barracuda closed the first Valiant-based generation with revised front and rear styling around its distinctive fastback glass. Plymouth reported 38,029 cars.

Engines and transmissions

The 225 Slant Six, 180-hp two-barrel 273, and 235-hp Commando 273 covered the engine range. Three-speed, four-speed, and TorqueFlite paths require matching controls, cooling, and axle applications.

Formula S and chassis

Formula S combined a performance engine with heavy-duty suspension, instruments, wheels, tires, and trim. Torsion bars supported the front suspension and leaf springs located the live rear axle. Drum brakes were the period system.
