Why It Matters
Every 1959 Corvette used Chevrolet's 283-cubic-inch small-block V8. Factory choices ranged from the 230-hp single-four-barrel engine through 245- and 270-hp dual-quad versions and 250- and 290-hp Rochester fuel-injected versions. Engine suffix, castings, induction, valvetrain, dates, transmission, and documentation must agree for an individual-car claim.
