- The November 1974 factory parts catalog assigns Barracuda housing package 2852882 to the 8 3/4-inch axle at 56 27/64 inches long and lists two 29 31/32-inch axle shafts without studs under service part 3432780. The catalog identifies the axle by a banjo-style housing with welded cover, ten carrier-retaining nuts, carrier casting 2881488 or 2881489 embossed two inches below the yoke, 29-tooth splines, and a bolted metal ratio tag. Its service tables include Barracuda applications for 2.76, 3.23, and 3.55 gear sets, but those service applications do not by themselves prove the original ratio in an individual car.
