Story
1996 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
The 1996 Z24 is the Cavalier sport coupe, not a four-door sedan or LS convertible. Chevrolet's model-year brochure documents a new 2.4-liter Twin Cam engine, dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The stated 146 cubic inches is a rounded conversion of the brochure's nominal 2.4 liters, not a separate factory bore-and-stroke measurement.
Configuration boundaries
The Z24 has a standard five-speed manual and an optional electronically controlled four-speed automatic with traction control. The base Cavalier's three-speed automatic is not a Z24 option. Four-wheel ABS operates with front discs and rear drums; it does not mean four-wheel disc brakes.
Evidence gaps and photo pending
Torque, output rpm, final-drive ratios, production totals and acceleration figures remain unverified here. An exact-year exterior photograph with verified reuse rights is still being sought. Brochure pictures remain reference evidence and are not reproduced as site photography.
