Story
1986 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
The 1986 Cavalier Z24 family combined two-door five-passenger notchback coupe or three-door hatchback coupe with Cavalier Z24 Coupe, Cavalier Z24 Hatchback configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.
Engines and transmissions
The LB6 engine, fuel injection, transmission, transaxle, suspension, brakes, body, Z24 trim, dates, and records must agree. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.
Chassis and brakes
The Z24 joined the fuel-injected V6 to coupe or hatchback body paths, sport suspension, quick-ratio steering, road wheels, tires, lower cladding, spoilers, gauges, and cabin trim. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.
Body, trim, and proof
Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
