Story

1990 Mercury Cougar XR-7

The exact-year factory table distinguishes the XR-7's supercharged, intercooled V6 from the naturally aspirated LS. Both listed XR-7 transmission choices are retained; this is not a manual-only replacement for the approved target.

Source boundaries

The 231-CID field reproduces EPA's exact-year supercharged Cougar records, not a conversion of nominal 3.8 liters or a verified factory CID designation. EPA identifies the carline and supercharged application; the brochure supplies trim membership. Its output table gives one XR-7 rating rather than separate transmission calibrations.

Photo pending

Axle ratio, exact engine code and production totals remain unresolved. Earlier V8 or turbo-four specifications are not substituted. Exterior photography requires a separately verified reuse license.
