Story
1983 Dodge Challenger
This Challenger was built by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and imported for Dodge, as the original 1983 brochure cover states. It is a separate coupe application, not a source for specifications of the earlier or later V8 Challengers.
Documented equipment
Dodge's period publication, reproduced from the February 1983 issue of Hot Rod, identifies a 2.6-liter four-cylinder Silent Shaft MCA-JET engine and a five-speed overdrive manual. Technica was an optional equipment package, not a specification shared by every Challenger.
The 156-cubic-inch figure is a rounded conversion of the 2,555 cc application label in the Operation CHARM service-manual index. It is not a separately verified factory cubic-inch designation; the period Dodge publication uses the nominal 2.6-liter label.
Evidence gaps and photo pending
Factory horsepower, torque, fuel-delivery details, automatic configuration and final-drive ratio remain unverified here. The available brochure specification photographs are too blurred for reliable transcription. An exact-year exterior photograph with verified reuse rights is still being sought; the brochure photographs are evidence references, not licensed site imagery.
