Story

1970 Mercury Marauder

The 1970 Marauder family combined two-door fastback hardtop with Marauder, Marauder X-100 configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.

Engines and transmissions

The regular Marauder used the 390 path, while the 429 four-barrel defined the X-100's full-size performance configuration. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.

Chassis and brakes

The full-size chassis used independent coil-spring front suspension and a coil-sprung four-link live rear axle, with X-100 handling equipment. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.

Body, trim, and proof

Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
