Story

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO 9562

The 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO 9562 is the factory-special-order Chevelle path for Chevrolet's L72 427, built around the same corporate-order loophole that made the COPO Camaro famous but with A-body Chevelle provenance questions of its own. The page treats the 427, transmission, 12-bolt Positraction axle, heavy-duty chassis pieces, Chevelle body trim, and Yenko/dealer stories as separate evidence streams. A Chevelle with a 427 is not automatically a COPO; paperwork, engine stamps, axle codes, and build history matter more than badges or later restoration choices.
