The 427 R-Code was a factory special-order drivetrain configuration within the 1967 Comet line, not one separate Comet model. Reviewed records document R-code examples in the Comet 202 two-door sedan and Cyclone hardtop, while the reported production breakdown also includes Capri and Caliente hardtops. The body series and trim must therefore be established separately from the engine code.

References report the solid-lifter side-oiler at 425 horsepower and distinguish it from the lower-rated W-code single-four-barrel 427.
