- The November 1974 Chrysler parts catalog assigns Challenger/Barracuda housing package 2852882 to the 8 3/4-inch axle at 56 27/64 inches long and lists two 29 31/32-inch shafts without studs under service part 3432780. It identifies the axle by a banjo-style welded-cover housing, ten carrier-retaining nuts, carrier casting 2881488 or 2881489 two inches below the yoke, 29-tooth splines, and a bolted metal ratio tag. Challenger service rows include 2.76 conventional, 3.23 conventional and Sure-Grip, and 3.55 Sure-Grip carriers. Service applicability does not establish the original assembly or ratio in an individual car.
