- Notes
- Ford's regular V8 and six-cylinder AMA sheets agree on self-adjusting, single-circuit hydraulic Duo-Servo brakes for regular passenger cars outside their Model 71 and police/taxi exceptions. They specify riveted molded-asbestos linings, 177.5 square inches effective lining area, 212.7 square inches gross lining area, 346.5 square inches swept drum area, 58 percent front effectiveness, and an integral Midland-Ross vacuum-assist system. Manual brakes use a 1-inch master-cylinder bore, 6.75 inches available pedal travel, and 800 psi line pressure at a 100-pound pedal load; power brakes use a 0.875-inch master-cylinder bore, 4 inches pedal travel, and 1,100 psi. The sheets do not establish 427/competition, service-part, running-change, or individual-car identity.
