Story
1997 Panoz AIV Roadster
The AIV is a distinct stage of Panoz's road-car program: aluminum chassis construction and Ford's 4.6-liter DOHC V8 distinguish it from the original 5.0-liter Roadster. The reviewed 1997 vehicle record documents a five-speed manual and rear-wheel drive.
Evidence boundaries
The January 1997 Hot Rod feature describes a preproduction drive, not a completed production-car test. Its 305-hp description is retained with that attribution; claimed acceleration, planned volume and early weight are not adopted as measured production specifications. Contemporary and later accounts are not interchangeable proof of every calibration.
The numeric 281-CID field is a nearest-whole conversion from the nominal 4.6-liter label, not a verified factory cubic-inch designation or exact measured displacement. Production horsepower, torque, output rpm, fuel-system detail and numeric final-drive ratio remain unresolved here. These qualifications must remain visible in engine, comparison and metadata consumers.
The exact-year sale record identifies chassis 1P9PA1825VB213034. It supports vehicle identity and observed equipment, not an assertion that all accessories were standard: its trailer, stereo and replacement tires are excluded from factory claims. No annual production count or universal certification claim is made.
