Story
1994 Chevrolet Beretta Z26
The Beretta Z26 belongs to the compact-performance branch of the American performance revival. It offers a different route through the 1990s from the rear-drive pony cars and large V8 sedans elsewhere in this collection.
Two factory powertrain choices
Chevrolet replaced the Beretta GT and GTZ with the Z26 for 1994. The standard combination was a 2.3-liter Quad 4 H.O. and five-speed manual; buyers could choose a 3.1-liter L82 V6 with a four-speed automatic. The linked engine and part records describe that optional V6, not every Z26.
The manufacturer kit lists the L82 at 160 SAE-net hp at 5200 rpm and 185 lb-ft at 4000 rpm, with sequential fuel injection. Its Z26 equipment includes Level II Sport Suspension, ground effects and spoilers.
Reading the evidence
The exterior photograph is identified as a 1994 Beretta by its photographer and visibly carries Z26 badging. It does not establish which engine is installed, its VIN, originality or option history. The Quad 4's conflicting numeric specifications remain unresolved; no later-year rating is substituted. Production totals, original pricing and vehicle-specific authenticity also remain open.
