Story
1993 Pontiac Grand Am GT
The 1993 Grand Am GT was offered as a coupe and sedan with three documented engine/transmission combinations. Pontiac's GT equipment column makes the High Output Quad 4 standard and lists the ordinary DOHC Quad 4 and 3300 V6 as options. The specification sheet supplies their individual transmission and gearing assignments; it does not support mixing every engine with every transmission.
Three distinct factory applications
The standard LG0 High Output Quad 4 uses the MV5 five-speed manual and a 3.94:1 final drive. Pontiac lists 175 bhp at 6,200 rpm and 155 lb-ft at 5,200 rpm. The optional LD2 DOHC Quad 4 uses the MD9 three-speed automatic and a 3.18:1 final drive, with 155 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 150 lb-ft at 4,800 rpm. The optional LG7 3300 V6 also uses the MD9 automatic but has a 2.39:1 final drive, with 160 bhp at 5,200 rpm and 185 lb-ft at 2,000 rpm.
These are factory-listed ratings, not measured results for an individual car. The 115-hp L40 Quad OHC belongs to the SE column, not this GT record. The reviewed GT equipment table does not print a separate coupe/sedan powertrain restriction. Standard GT equipment includes 16-inch cast aluminum wheels and anti-lock braking; the factory overview specifies disc/drum brakes, not four-wheel discs.
Source boundaries
Pontiac's press sheet prints 138 cubic inches for both 2.3-liter Quad 4 applications, while the EPA carline records list 139. The displayed 138-CID values retain the factory-sheet attribution rather than silently resolving the discrepancy. The V6 is listed as 204 CID / 3.3 liters in both sources; no conversion from nominal liters is substituted. The owner's manual distinguishes VIN engine codes A, D and N from the factory RPO identifiers LG0, LD2 and LG7.
The HO fuel-grade discussion differs between the press sheet and owner's manual. This page does not turn that difference into operating advice. Fuel delivery is documented as multi-port injection; induction remains explicitly unclassified in this source-bound draft rather than inherited from a catalog genre label. EPA records describe the Grand Am carline and cannot establish GT option eligibility on their own.
Photo pending
Factory document photographs are technical references, not reusable vehicle photography. An exact-year reusable exterior photo remains pending. No performance-test figures, production totals, adjacent-year specifications or collection membership are inferred.
