Story

1987 Pontiac Fiero

The 1987 Fiero family combined two-door two-seat rear-mid-engine notchback or fastback coupe with Fiero coupe, Fiero Sport Coupe, Fiero SE, Fiero GT configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.

Engines and transmissions

Four-cylinder, V6, transmission, transaxle, chassis, body, trim, production date, and records define one 1987 Fiero configuration. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.

Chassis and brakes

Every Fiero used a steel space frame, nonstructural body panels, independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel discs; Y99 and WS6 changed springs, bars, steering, wheels, and tires. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.

Body, trim, and proof

Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
