1984 Ford Mustang SVO
The 1984 Mustang SVO was a factory performance program built around balance rather than displacement alone. Its intercooled turbocharged four-cylinder, five-speed manual, four-wheel disc brakes, SVO suspension tuning, and model-specific exterior details made it a distinct Mustang program.
Powertrain and chassis
Ford's turbocharged Lima engine paired electronic fuel injection with an intercooler for an advertised 175 SAE net horsepower. The chassis combined adjustable dampers, performance tires, quick steering, and four-wheel discs, while the five-speed and Traction-Lok axle completed the integrated package.
Authentication
Program identity depends on the VIN and factory records together with the correct engine, induction plumbing, transmission, axle, brakes, suspension, body equipment, cabin, and component dates. A biplane spoiler or SVO badge alone cannot establish an original SVO.
