Story
1978 Ford Mustang II King Cobra
The 1978 Mustang II King Cobra family combined three-door four-passenger hatchback coupe with Mustang II King Cobra with 5.0-liter V8 configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.
Engines and transmissions
The factory 5.0-liter engine, transmission, axle, chassis, body, graphics, dates, and records must agree; a replacement drivetrain cannot establish delivery configuration. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.
Chassis and brakes
King Cobra joined the 5.0-liter V8 to transmission-specific driveline hardware, handling equipment, front air dam, rear spoiler, wheels, tires, stripes, and cobra graphics. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.
Body, trim, and proof
Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
