Story

1972 Dodge Charger

The 1972 Charger family combined two-door hardtop coupe with base, SE, Rallye configurations. This page keeps those factory choices together without treating an engine, stripe, badge, or trim package as a separate car identity.

Engines and transmissions

The regular Slant Six and 318 paths sat beside 340, 400, and 440 V8 configurations; no 426 Hemi path is inferred for this model year. Transmission, induction, cooling, exhaust, axle, emissions equipment, and dates must match the selected engine path.

Chassis and brakes

The B-body used longitudinal torsion bars in front and parallel leaf springs at the live rear axle. Brake, steering, spring, damper, axle, ratio, wheel, and tire equipment varied by configuration and must be reconciled to factory and car-specific records.

Body, trim, and proof

Start with VIN or serial, body tag, title, shell, and ownership history. Then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, protected finish, cabin, trim, dates, and records. Replaceable badges, stripes, wheels, or a swapped engine cannot establish factory configuration.
