Story

1967 Dodge Dart

Dodge redesigned the compact Dart for 1967 with sedans, a hardtop, and a convertible. Regular and GT models covered the broad market, while the new GTS made room for the 280-hp 383 V8.

Engines and transmissions

The 170 and 225 Slant Sixes and 273 small-block handled regular applications. The 383 GTS required distinct exhaust, cooling, transmission, axle, chassis, and brake preparation. Three-speed, four-speed, and TorqueFlite paths must remain application-specific.

Chassis and bodies

Longitudinal torsion bars supported the independent front suspension and leaf springs located the live rear axle. Drum brakes were regular equipment; front discs, power assist, heavy-duty suspension, and Sure-Grip varied by order.

Identity

Start with VIN, body tag, title, shell, and factory records. Reconcile engine, induction, transmission, axle, brakes, suspension, paint, upholstery, instruments, trim, dates, and ownership history. GT or GTS badges, a 383 swap, or modern wheels cannot prove factory configuration.
