Story

1964 Pontiac Grand Prix

The 1964 Grand Prix was Pontiac's personal-luxury performance coupe: one formal two-door hardtop with bucket seats, a console, restrained brightwork, and a standard four-barrel 389. Pontiac produced 63,810.

Powertrain

The standard 389 was rated at 303 gross horsepower. Tri-Power 389 and 421 paths were available, with manual and Super Hydra-Matic transmissions. Each combination carried its own induction, controls, cooling, axle, and documentary requirements.

Chassis and cabin

Independent coil-spring front suspension and a four-link coil-spring rear supported the hardtop. Drum brakes were standard; power assist, Safe-T-Track, eight-lug wheels and finned drums, steering, and heavy-duty equipment varied by order.
