Story

1959 Mercury Park Lane

Mercury's flagship returned for 1959 on an exclusive 128-inch wheelbase. Body code 57C identifies the four-door Hardtop Cruiser, 63C the two-door Hardtop Cruiser, and 76C the convertible. Those are configurations of one model-year family rather than duplicate car pages.

One 430 Marauder path

Every 1959 Park Lane used the 430-cubic-inch Marauder V8 with one four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust, 345 gross horsepower, and 480 lb-ft of torque. The 400-hp triple-two-barrel Super Marauder belongs to 1958 and should not be used to describe a factory 1959 car. A column-shifted Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic replaced the prior year's instrument-panel Keyboard Control.

Touring chassis

The box-section perimeter frame carried independent coil-spring front suspension and a leaf-spring live rear axle with a 2.71 final drive. Power steering and self-adjusting power drum brakes were standard. The combination favored smooth, low-effort travel over hard launches.

Finish, cabin, and proof

The panoramic windshield, reverse-slant hardtop pillars, concave side form, anodized Park Lane panel, canted rear lamps, broad seating, wraparound panel, and optional comfort equipment define the experience. Replaceable trim does not establish identity. Begin with the patent plate, title, shell, and ownership history, then reconcile drivetrain, chassis, paint, cabin, options, dates, and protected evidence.

Production and pricing

Reviewed rows report 12,523 Park Lanes: 7,206 four-door hardtops, 4,060 two-door hardtops, and 1,257 convertibles. Published starting prices were $4,031, $3,955, and $4,206 respectively. These model-level figures do not establish one car's delivered price, options, or surviving configuration.
